1955-Roy Love



Roy Love, CHS class of 1955, was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame. While at CHS, Roy earned varsity letters in football and baseball and at Portland State he played baseball, and then in 1962 became Portland State's baseball coach.

His PSU baseball teams had a 257-215 record and made the postseason tournament eight times. In 1962 the Vikings played in the NAIA national championship baseball game.

After serving as baseball coach he became the university's athletic director. While serving in this position, he spearheaded the upgrade of the athletic programs and hired coaches Jack Dunn, Pokey Allen, Mouse Davis, Teri Mariani and many other winning coaches.

After his retirement from PSU, Roy served as CCHSAA president and is currently president of the PIL Athletic Hall of Fame.

Along with Love, this year's Oregon Hall of Fame inductees were major league baseball player Wayne Twitchell, NBA player Terrell Brandon, international table tennis player Judy Bochenski Hoarfrost, sportscaster Doug LaMear and the 1965-1966 Oregon State basketball team.
